Nadine: Ow.

Nikolas: What are you doing here?

Nadine: Working.

Nikolas: You’re supposed to be back at Wyndemere recuperating right now.

Nadine: I’m better.

Nikolas: So you left me a note?

Nadine: That was rude, I know. I’m sorry, especially since you were so wonderful to me, but I know if I told you face-to-face, you would have convinced me to stay longer, and I really can’t use up my sick days when I’m not actually sick.

Nikolas: Nadine, I’m sorry. You were in a fire. You had smoke inhalation. A day or two more of rest — it couldn’t hurt.

Nadine: Well, it’s not like I was getting much rest wondering whether or not you were going to come into my bedroom in the middle of the night.

Nikolas: Why would I want to show up at your room in the middle of the night, Nadine?

Nadine: That — that’s not what I meant.

Nikolas: You were hoping that I’d just climb through the window and — oh, wait, that was you at the police commissioner’s home. I’m sorry.

Nadine: Be quiet.

Nikolas: If I don’t know what you want, how can I give it to you?

Nadine: Okay, look, look. We are — we are really busy. Obviously, we are swamped until Epiphany gets back, right, Leyla?

Leyla: Oh, I’m staying out of this one.

Nadine: Look, what I meant was that I know how worried you were about me, and I thought that maybe you might come in in the middle of the night and check to make sure that I was still breathing or something.

Nikolas: Right, yeah.

Nadine: Besides, why are you making such a big deal about this? What, you can’t make it through the day without me?

Nadine: Well, I didn’t expect you to just get up and leave this morning.

Nadine: Well, I have to get back to my real life, because I might have another clue.

Nikolas: Oh, don’t — don’t. Is this about the drug ring thing again?

Nadine: It’s just a hunch.

Nikolas: Can we go back to the part where I show up in your bedroom in the middle of the night? That was — whatever it is, please don’t do it.

Nadine: I’ll be fine.

Nikolas: It’s going to get out. All right, all right, whatever. What’s the clue?

Nadine: You’re just going to laugh at me, and besides, it’s probably nothing, so don’t worry about it.

Nikolas: Too late now, right, Leyla?

Nadine: It’s just something that I thought of when I was lying awake at night in your castle.

Nikolas: Wyndemere is not a castle.

Nadine: Well, it’s the closest thing that I have ever been to a castle, and those nights I spent there were the closest I’ve ever been to a prince, which was really not that close.

Nikolas: What is the hunch?

Nadine: You’ll find out soon enough, maybe. But right now, I really have to get back to work. Thanks, Leyla, and I’m sure that — that you have to get back to whatever it is princes do all day.

Nikolas: I work.

Nadine: Really? Huh. Let me know when that happens. I would love to see that for myself.

Nikolas: I work.

Nadine: Oh, God, no! I got on the wrong ferry, obviously. And –

[Man speaks Russian]

Nadine: Oh, um –

Sasha: It’s obvious to me that you need a translator.

Nadine: Boy, am I glad to see you.

Sasha: They don’t understand a word you’re saying. Although “spy” has the same meaning in any language.
