[Phone rings]
Lucky: I got to take this.
Nikolas: All right.
Nadine: Hey, I heard about your sister. How can I help?
Nikolas: Lulu’s been asking me for help with this for months. She kept telling me how confused she was about her feelings for this — this guy, Johnny, and I just –
Nadine: It’s hard to sort that stuff out sometimes.
Nikolas: I’ve just been so preoccupied with my own stuff. I really didn’t listen to her. I should have just kept telling her over and over — stay away from him, stay away from him. I could have kept her busy at the — at the clinic. I could have invited her to come live at Wyndemere for a while. I could have — I don’t know. Instead, I told her to follow her heart.
Nadine: That’s never bad advice.
Nikolas: I don’t need any platitudes right now, thank you.
Nadine: Well, you followed your heart with Emily, didn’t you? Wouldn’t you do that again?
Ric: Look, an APB that justifies deadly force is excessive. It’s unwarranted. John Zacchara is no more a threat to the public than you are. We don’t even know if Lulu Spencer has been taken hostage.
Mac: You’re wasting your breath. I am not downgrading the APB.
Ric: Mac, if there’s a shoot out, Lulu could get hurt.
Lucky: Thank you. We hadn’t thought of that.
Ric: Boys, the mayor is out dealing with the press. Now the sooner you two can diffuse the situation, the better it’s going to be for everybody.
Nikolas: Hey, tell me where your son took my sister.
Nadine: Nikolas –
Nikolas: Where are they?
Anthony: Your sister brought that gun to John, didn’t she? If anything happens to my son –
Nikolas: Look, if you want to spirit your son off to some — some other country, I really don’t care, but you’re going to tell me where my sister is.
Anthony: Oh, you don’t care. You mean I have your approval?
Nikolas: You just tell John, let Lulu go.
Anthony: If I knew the whereabouts of my son and little Lulu, why am I here?
[Phone ringing]
Nikolas: To cover your own back and make yourself look innocent when you know it was all your doing.
Anthony: Listen to me. There is no way my son pulls a stunt like this on his own. Your sister talked h into it. She’s nothing but trouble. She’s unstable. She’s a nutcase just like your mother.
Nikolas: You son of a –
Anthony: Hey –
Mac: Nikolas.
Ric: Let go, let go. Come on.
Nadine: John Zacchara would never hurt Lulu.
Nikolas: No, maybe not intentionally. But if I know Lulu, she would do anything to save him. Throw herself into the line of fire — what happens if she gets too close when the police start shooting? How close was Michael to Sonny when he got hit?
Nadine: It’s not going to be the same thing.
Nikolas: I mean, I know I shouldn’t talk like that. It’s just –
Nadine: Well, sometimes you have to say things out loud to take away the power.
Nikolas: I appreciate the concern, but I’m all right. Really.
Nadine: You attacked a man in a wheelchair in the middle of the police station, and your sister’s been kidnapped. How could you possibly be all right?
Nikolas: Okay, I’m terrible. Do you feel better now?
Nadine: No, I feel awful. But I think that if you talk about this stuff instead of keeping it bottled up inside, it’ll help –
Nikolas: Nadine, it’s not — it won’t change anything, okay? The one thing I learned about Emily’s death is that sometimes the worst really does happen.
